OPERATOR SAFETY TRAINING
Course Objective:
This forklift driver training program is designed to meet the needs of telehandler operators, regardless of brand. The course is ideal for all telehandler operators as it is designed to reinforce the importance of proper telehandler safety and handling techniques. The program focuses on these principles:
- Provincial and National Safety Standards
- Theory and Hands-on Instruction
- Controls and Functions
- Steering and Maneuverability
- Proper Machine Inspection
- Fueling internal combustion powered telehandlers
- Safe Load Handling Techniques
- Stability Principles
Course Structure:
This comprehensive forklift driver training program consists of the following:
- Classroom forklift driver training on the theory of telescopic handler operation.
- Hands on operation.
- Performance by the participant of the following:
- Daily inspection procedure.
- Site inspection for hazards.
- Demonstration of safe operation of the machine.
- Completion of a quiz on all aspects of the operation of the telehandler as well as the regulations relating to the safe operation of the equipment.
Forklift Driver Training Course Duration:
- 1 Day Experienced Operators (8 hours)
- 2 Day Novice Operators (16 hours)

RE-QUALIFICATION
TRAINING
Course Objective:
This forklift driver training program is designed to ensure that operator knowledge and practical skills continue to meet current safety standards and regulations. The program is ideal for all telehandler operators as it is designed to reinforce the importance of proper handling techniques.
Course Structure:
This comprehensive refresher program consists of the following:
- Classroom training on the theory of telehandler operation. Includes the use of workbooks and video.
- Hands on operation and practical evaluation of operator skills.
Forklift Driver Training Course Duration:
- 4-5 hours (depending on number of participants)
Prerequisite:
Must have previously completed training with Leavitt Machinery.

IN-HOUSE INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
Course Objective:
This fork lift certification program is designed to meet the needs of the telehandler operator, regardless of brand. This comprehensive telehandler instructor training program gives the student the skills to run an effective program by:
- Introducing them the principles of safe operation of a telehandler
- Training them to present the material in a classroom situation
- Instructing the student how to evaluate another operator’s driving skills
- Teaching the student how to set-up an appropriate test area for students
- Introducing the student to the regulatory bodies governing telehandler operators
- Explaining proper record keeping
Course Structure:
The fork lift certification program focuses on the following areas:
