Fall Protection Program, Fall Protection Training

Course Description:
The Industrial/Commercial End-User Fall Protection Program has been created by Fall Protection Group Inc., a leader in North American fall protection training. The program is designed to address the fall safety needs for any industrial and commercial worker working at any height, but who are not engaged in the Oil Sands sites. The program was developed in accordance with the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) and Alberta OH & S Part 9.

Learning Objectives:
The goal of this fall protection program is to ensure that recipients understand the use of fall protection as it relates to the work you perform at height. Various fall protection options exist; this course will identify which options best meet your needs, and give you the tools and knowledge to work at height safely. The learning objectives of this program are as follows:

  • To comprehend fall protection fundamentals and regulations
  • To understand methods of eliminating the fall hazard
  • To identify the components of personal travel restrain and fall arrest systems
  • To understand equipment specifications, limitations, care and inspection
  • To understand methods of proper planning when controlling fall hazards
  • To understand the need for rescue planning and preparedness

Course Structure:
This program includes both theoretical and practical application and testing on the following topics

  • Dynamics Of Falling
  • Fall Protection Planning
  • Clearance & Free Fall Calculations
  • Anchor Points
  • Connectors
  • Equipment Care and Inspection
  • Rescue Principles
  • Governing Bodies and Regulations

  • Fall Arrest System Components

Course Duration:
The duration of the Industrial/Commercial End-User Fall Protection Program is 8 hours, including both theoretical and practical application and testing dependant on the total number of participants in the course. The certification is valid for 3 years from date of completion. Students possessing an active certification may take a 4 hour recertification program prior to their expiry date.

The Industrial/Commercial Oil Sands specific Fall Protection Program has been created by Fall Protection Group Inc., a leader in North American Fall Safety training, specifically to provide the industrial and commercial end user with OSSA Accreditation in Fall Protection.

Fall Protection Group Inc. is an OSSA Accredited Training Provider and has current OSSA Accreditation for the Oil Sands Fall Protection Training. Leavitt Machinery’s trainers are trained and certified by Fall Protection Group Inc. to deliver on Fall Protection Group’s behalf, the Oil Sands Fall Protection Training Program.

Students possessing an active initial certification may take a 4 hour recertification program prior to their expiry date. Students with a recertification card must take the initial program in order to remain current with their certification. NOTE: Government issued photo ID must be presented to the trainer.
